Teknaf UNO ordered to create an OSD for abusing a journalist
Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam ordered Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi (UN) officer Mohammad Kaisar Khosru to be made an officer on special duty (OSD) for verbally abusing a journalist over the phone.
The decision was taken after Monday’s cabinet meeting at the Secretariat.
Meanwhile, the Cox’s Bazar district administration issued a show cause notice against UNO Khosru on Sunday.
The notice asked the accused to provide an explanation for his indecent behavior, Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md Mamunur Rashid said.
According to a report published by an online news portal on Thursday, houses under the government’s Ashrayan project in the Hnila Hoabrang area of the upazila were flooded, causing suffering to at least 27 families.
Later, the UN called journalist Saiful Farhad from his official number at night and used offensive language against him.
On Friday, Hill Down Circuit House Deputy Commissioner Md Mamunur Rashid met key leaders of the Cox’s Bazar Press Club and Journalists’ Union later on Friday over the incident.
Meanwhile, UN Kaiser Khosru apologized to the reporter for the language he used.
The High Court wanted to know on Sunday what administrative action had been taken against UNO Khosru.
The court issued the order as lead attorney Md Khurshid Alam Khan brought the matter to the attention of the court.
