Spain eases Covid-19 restrictions for travelers from UAE and Bahrain
Spain is preparing to welcome more vacationers from the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
The European country eased travel restrictions for tourists from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as those from Bahrain, effective Monday.
Unvaccinated travelers are now advised to travel to Spain from the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain after both destinations were added to Spain’s safe travel list.
Vaccinated tourists from all destinations are welcome to visit the country since it reopened in June.
“This is great news, especially for the GCC region, as we have seen a significant increase in the number of people in Spain in recent months and the trend continues,” said Daniel Rosado, Spanish tourism director in the CCG.
“This shows that Spain is up to date and that the Covid-19 situation is well contained. This update to the reduced restrictions will certainly increase the number of tourists to Spain. We are happy to welcome GCC travelers to our beautiful country with open arms, as always. “
Tourists who plan to visit Spain from the United Arab Emirates or Bahrain can now do so without having to present PCR test results, Covid-19 certificates or proof of vaccination.
The news follows a drop in the number of coronavirus cases and the progression of the vaccination rollout, both in Spain and the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait were already on Spain’s safe travel list.
Travelers must complete the Spanish Health Control Form, available here, to obtain a QR code. Airlines can ask to see the code before allowing travelers to board flights, and it can also be requested upon arrival at Spanish airports. This also applies to passengers transiting through Spain.
On June 7, Spain opened to fully vaccinated visitors from any destination. Since then, the Mediterranean hotspot has once again welcomed tourists from several countries, including the United Arab Emirates.
Spain has a mild climate, with many parts of the country enjoying a pleasant climate all year round and attractive fall colors. In winter, sun-seeking tourists can head to southern Spain, where places like Malaga or Marbella offer bright sunshine and warm temperatures.
In the north of the country, travelers can find several ski resorts, mainly in the Pyrenees range. Winter festivities in major Spanish cities are also magical, with Christmas markets, firs, crib figurines and much more in Barcelona, Madrid and Seville, helping to warm up winter nights.
“Being a year round destination, Spain has the added benefit of attracting travelers for fall and winter and now the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control has ranked Spain as the one of the safest countries to travel, which is even more reassuring for travelers. said Rosado.
Travel rules can change frequently during the global pandemic, and all tourists should check the most recent entry requirements for Spain here before flying.
Only travelers from countries in the European Union or those listed as safe by Spanish authorities can travel to Spain without PCR testing or proof of vaccination at this time. The list is constantly updated and can be viewed here.
