Reporter says PL club will do ‘everything possible’ to avoid selling to Spurs – Spurs Web
Daily Star reporter Paul Brown believes West Ham United will do everything in their power to avoid letting Tomas Soucek join Tottenham.
Tottenham and West Ham have had virtually no transfer deals in recent decades, with Scott Parker in 2011 (free transfer) being the latest player to switch between the two clubs.
Spurs’ failed bid for the London stadium has only added to the bad blood between the two clubs’ hierarchies (The Guardian).
Reports suggest Tottenham could be looking to poach Tomas Soucek from the Hammers this summer, with the Czech international being on Antonio Conte’s radar (Alasdair Gold of Football.London).
Football Insider reported last week that the midfielder’s future was up in the air after talks with West Ham over a new contract broke down. The report claims that the 27-year-old was offered to Spurs through his representatives.
However, Brown believes David Moyes’ men will not let Soucek join their London rivals under any circumstances.
The reporter told GiveMeSport regarding the speculation linking the midfielder to Spurs: “I think West Ham would do everything possible to ensure they don’t sell any players to Spurs this window, which is historically the way between both clubs. .”
Boosts web opinion
Although I expect Spurs to sign a central midfielder this summer to replace Harry Winks, I don’t think the position will be seen as a priority for Conte to tackle. I also don’t think Soucek would start for us ahead of Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
