Reactions as Times writer claims Britons secretly enjoyed the Blitz spirit during pandemic

Did you enjoy the pandemic, feel energized as you stood in line to walk into Sainsbury’s to try (and fail again) and buy Bog Roller?

No me either.

But did you secretly take the chance to show off a Blitz Spirit (whatever it is) during the pandemic, again while searching for toilet paper?

No me either.

Well Times editor and former speechwriter for David Cameron, Clare Foges wrote an article titled “Don’t bet on a tough winter tossing Boris Johnson”. The intro line then read “We have been chased into some chaos during the pandemic and many are secretly taking the chance to show some Blitz spirit.”

She writes: “… the truth is that many find the collective experience of a crisis entertaining and even fun, the camaraderie, the sharing of complaints, the slight thrill of having to search for the last bag of Penne at Sainsbury’s. “

Thinking back to an interview with her for the Evening Standard, Foges said she believed MPs should be better paid and endorsed their recent pay rise (at the time) from £ 67,060 per year to 74,000 £.

“A lot of people behind the scenes will say that. I’m fed up with this self-flagellating mood among politicians that has been going on since the spending scandal. They do a lot, drop out of high paying careers, whatever you want; the lives of their spouses are often also taken care of, ”she told the newspaper.
