Journalist drops key Ruben Neves claim
Wolves may have to accept that they will have to take advantage of midfielder Ruben Neves this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Lowdown: Neves’ future uncertain
The 25-year-old has been a fantastic servant for Wanderers over the years, dictating many midfield battles and scoring some spectacular goals along the way.
Neves had arguably one of his best seasons at Molineux in 2021/22, registering four goals, two assists and an average of 2.3 tackles per game.
There have been constant rumors linking the Portuguese with a move away this summer, however, with Barcelona among those keen on signing him.
The latest: a journalist drops a new claim
Speaking to GiveMeSport, O’Rourke admitted Wolves might have to let Neves go at the end of the season:
“There are obviously fears that Wolves will end up cashing in on Neves this summer. He has also been such a good servant to them. He helped them establish themselves in the Premier League.
The verdict: Question of time?
While the idea of Neves staying at Wolves is exciting, it seems increasingly likely that he will embark on a new challenge this summer given the number of reports that are emerging.
Some players have simply reached a sell-by date at a club, and while the midfielder clearly enjoys playing for Wanderers, he may feel it’s time to test himself somewhere with higher ambitions.
It would be hard to blame Neves for a transfer after offering so much since joining in 2017 – he has made 207 appearances in total – and the key will be to ensure the huge money earned from his sale is spent wisely ahead of the season. next.
