Former ABC reporter Tom Baddeley to present Perth Breakfast
Famous Perth journalist Tom Baddeley has been named new Breakfast presenter, taking up his new duties on Monday, February 7, 2022.
Baddeley said it was a privilege to have the opportunity to present the show and take over the reins from “good mate” Russell Woolf, who died suddenly last October.
“Woolfy’s shoes will be impossible to fill, but I want to continue with the great tradition he has established of starting the day with a little fun, good conversation and great music.” Tom said. âOne of my favorite memories of my time at ABC was the ‘weekend catwalk’ conversation I had with Russell every Friday. He was a great mentor and my goal is to bring what I gleaned from Woolfy to the new breakfast in 2022. â
Baddeley returns to ABC after 16 years and is best known for his roles in ABC news reading and business reporting, as well as presenting Stateline. He started his career as a journalist with West Australian and after leaving the CBA in 2005, worked in media relations, government relations, policy advocacy and public affairs, most notably as the communications manager for the new WA Super Rugby team, the Western Force.
ABC Perth Director Sarah Knight said: âIt is a pleasure to welcome Tom back to ABC. I’m sure her easy going ways, coupled with her local Perth knowledge, will provide a perfect start to the day. With Tom you will get a wide range of news, talk and humor – all the makings of a good breakfast.
ABC Radio Perth Breakfast with Tom Baddeley. Starts Monday, February 7 from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. weekdays.
