Cops arrested for nighttime robberies in India: wanted “journalist” – News
Wanted in more than a dozen cases, the 21-year-old was also ranked among the top 10 criminals by the police.
He posed as a television reporter during the day, but at night his true colors shone. Shayar Meena, according to Jaipur police, is only 21 years old, but has mastered the art of breaking into locked shops and leaving with expensive items.
On Sunday, the police finally managed to arrest the “journalist”, who was armed with the equipment required for a television reporter and also had a press card. At the wheel of a luxury car, with “Press” stickers stuck everywhere, he pretended to be a journalist.
Shayar also lived in an affluent area of Jaipur. Chaina Ram Bera, a police officer, told media that Shayar was on the run, although one of his associates was arrested. The duo had recently broken through the shutter of an electronics store, stolen electronics and sold them in markets.
Police say Shayar is using the tag of journalist to cover up his crimes. And surprisingly, he has been successful in deceiving officials for several years now.
Wanted in more than a dozen cases, Shayar was also ranked among the top 10 criminals by the Jaipur police. He’s been on the run for a few months after allegedly breaking into an electronics store and escaping with expensive gadgets including an LED TV.
