Chinese science fiction writer Liu Cixin, author of The three body problem, and Hugo Award recipient, announced at the 2021 World Artificial Intelligence Conference that he is joining artificial intelligence (AI) start-up SenseTime as director of the Science Fiction Planet Research Center.
The announcement came as SenseTime has partnered with The Three-Body Universe, owner of the copyright to The three body problem, to explore the new âAI + Science-Fictionâ paradigm as well as to create an innovative and immersive offline entertainment experience.
Liu said via a video link at the forum that AI is a accelerator for those with imagination and can promote the development of science and technology, ultimately leading to the advancement of humanity.
“SenseTime’s AI-powered science fiction will become an immersive world, which invites everyone to experience the vastness of the universe, the insignificance of human beings and the endless possibilities in the future.”
Xu Li, co-founder and CEO of SenseTime, presented SenseCore AI Infrastructure at the forum. By integrating three layers – computing power, platforms and algorithms – it aims to create a new paradigm of technological advancement, achieving efficient, inexpensive and highly scalable innovation and empowerment.
