‘Check all the boxes’: reporter shares what everyone around Spurs says about a player
London football journalist Alasdair Gold shared on his YouTube channel what everyone he’s talked to around Spurs says about Dane Scarlett.
Scarlett, of course, arguably landed one of the early pre-season scorers following Tottenham’s opening friendly this summer.
The 17-year-old scored the Spurs goal as they drew with Leyton Orient in their first game under Nuno Espirito Santo this weekend.
Of course, Tottenham fans don’t need to remember how high the hopes are for the young striker. He made three first-team appearances last season.
Obviously, the concern is whether he will be able to realize his full potential. But judging by Gold’s comments, few at the club themselves are too worried about Scarlett.
He hinted that he was very impressed with the way he behaved.
“I was talking to some people at the club about him and everyone says he’s the most established young man you have,” he told his youtube channel.
âYou see young players who think they are successful the moment they walk through the doors, you see a lot of arrogance, you see a lack of focus. You see players who are incredibly motivated, but who may not have the same talent as the rest.
“At this point, and I really want to say it and put a massive line under it, Dane Scarlett ticks all the boxes.”
Scarlett will surely have more chances to impress Spurs boss Nuno in preseason
Scarlett is probably the player likely to benefit the most from Tottenham’s lack of depth up front.
Harry Kane has yet to resume training after Euro 2020. And Spurs have yet to sign a replacement for Carlos Vinicius.
With that in mind, Scarlett can certainly look forward to other opportunities.
And if he can impress again, Nuno will surely have no choice but to give him more playing time next season.
